Creative Writing & Performing Camp
Wordcrafters is partnering with SIRENS to create this special writing and performing camp to empower girls to find and share their stories through poetry, story-telling, and performance. Write around Alton Baker Park. Explore different aspects of writing and performing. Campers will:
- Create Personal Fables
- Find Stories in Songs
- Explore Character and Story Arc
- Tell Stories without Speaking
- Perform 1-3 Minute Plays, Stories in Pairs, Spoken-Word Poetry
- Friday, guests are invited to hear campers read from their work.
**This program is for significantly female-identified people. We use an inclusive definition of “girls”, “young women”, and “female” and we welcome trans girls, genderqueer young women, and non-binary people who are significantly female-identified.
Young Writers Creative Writing Summer Camps
Wordcrafters Summer Creative Writing Camps combine a love of words and a love of the outdoors. Write around Alton Baker Park. Work with a new visiting author each day. Explore different aspects of genre and writing craft. Challenge yourself technically and artistically through daily guided writing workshops. Present your work to family and friends; Friday, guests are invited to hear campers read from their work.

- Monday–Friday 18-22 July
- Alton-Baker Picnic Structure
- Middle School: 9 am to Noon (Friday until 12:30 pm)
- High School: 1 pm to 4 pm (Friday until 4:30 pm)
- Snacks and writing journals will be provided
- Wear clothes appropriate for the weather
- Workshops include: Poetry, Comics and Graphic Novels, Word Art, Slam Poetry, SciFi & Fantasy World Building, and more!
- Limited to 12 participants each camp
- Cost $147. Scholarships available*
*Scholarships: Two scholarships are available for each camp. To apply, please write a brief statement (500 words or less) describing why you want to take this class and your financial need for a scholarship. Please include the following information with your statement:

- School/Grade you’ll attend in Fall 2015 (homeschoolers welcome)
