This lively and supportive six-week workshop will teach writers how to identify their most original and surprising life stories and craft them into short pieces ideal for magazines and newspapers. Through a study of published narratives, we’ll discuss what editors look for, how they evaluate submissions, and how to write and submit your work professionally. We’ll talk about how to increase the chance of publication with narrative arc, research, revision, and photos. Students will conclude the class with a list of topics for their own personal narratives, plus two completed pieces and an excellent sense of specific editors who will be interested in their work.
